In March 2021, the world watched as the Ever Given, a massive container ship, brought one of the most critical waterways to a standstill. The Ever Given, a large container ship, became lodged in the Suez Canal on March 23, 2021, causing a significant blockage. The incident occurred due to a combination of factors, including strong winds and the ship's large size. On the day of the incident, the Suez Canal experienced a dust storm with high winds. These strong winds reduced visibility and created challenging navigation conditions for the Ever Given and other vessels in the area. The strong crosswinds likely affected the ship's ability to maintain its course, leading to the vessel's bow deviating from the intended path. The ship's large surface area acted like a sail in the wind, making it difficult to control and navigate through the narrow canal. The Suez Canal is a critical waterway with a relatively narrow width, and the Ever Given, being one of the largest container ships globally, had limited space to maneuver. The combination of strong winds and the confined space of the canal led to the ship running aground and becoming wedged across the canal.
