ADTs are one of the coolest earthmoving machines because they are made up of two parts – the front tractor section and the back trailer section. The two are able to operate independently. The trailer can overturn without forcing the tractor over. In other words, the frame cannot twist. This is not the case with rigid frame dump trucks. The two sections are connected by hydraulic cylinders which also allows the trailer to move horizontally in relation to the tractor. Here are THREE advantages of these beautiful machines.
1) Mega Maneuverable
Have you ever seen the turning radius of a London black cab? ADTs are almost as tight, which means you can maneuver them in tight mining and construction sites. They also boast a low center of gravity which means they are suitable for all terrain. You can also take this bad boy on public roads which makes it easy to move between sites.
2) Load Impact
ADTs can carry a wider range of loads and volumes than rigid frames for the simple reason they can drive over varied terrain. Rigids can handle high impact loads on even terrain, while ADT can work in muddy, rocky, and uneven without putting the driver at risk.
3) Speed
ADTs are quick. This means they are able to finish the job with lightening speed. They are also able to empty their loads while the tractor is in motion.
In summary, an ADT is perfect for construction sites with uneven terrain and conditions which cause muddy roads. The frame will not twist as it would with a rigid truck, and you will be able to move loads at a much faster speed.
